Huawei launches new Metropolitan OTN

Huawei, a provider of next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has launched the OSN8800 T16, a metropolitan OTN system, at the 2010 WDM & Next Generation Optical Networking event in Monaco. This new transport system accommodates bandwidth-heavy services, such as data, video, and storage, and reduces operator costs with easy maintenance, energy efficiency, and space-saving features. Poised to enable operators to handle future bandwidth demands, the OSN8800 T16 achieves 40G/100G transport and offers full-service, cross-connection capabilities that support ODUk wavelength and packet cross-connections, offering flexibility and efficiency in wavelength utilization. By utilizing OTN cross-connections, which reach 640G and upgrade to 1.6T, OSN8800 T16 provides easy maintenance and fast service provisioning similar to SDH. Additionally, the OSN8800 T16 is designed with industry-leading photonics integrated device (PID) technology, achieving 120G capacity per card and reducing power consumption and space requirements.
