Ericsson's 40-Gbit/sec multi-haul WDM system, the Marconi MHL 3000, has been commercially deployed by Deutsche Telekom AG in the German core network. This deployment follows in-depth testing, optimization, and systems integration. Ericsson's Marconi MHL 3000 MultiHaul WDM platform is commercially
deployed nationwide with 40-Gbit/sec functionality. This is a vital
step to provide necessary bandwidth in core networks to meet the
growing broadband traffic demand from business and residential
customers using new multimedia services, say Ericsson representatives. Ericsson says its, Marconi MHL 3000 enables Deutsche Telekom to implement a highly efficient IP network with 40-Gbit/sec connections on existing ROADM infrastructure, satisfying traffic growth. "We are proud to support Deutsche Telekom in their commercial launch of 40-Gbit/sec WDM services," asserts Thorsten Sauer, Ericsson's head of the global customer account, Deutsche Telekom. "Deutsche Telekom is one of the operators being at the forefront of migration to Next-Generation Networks. 40-Gbit/sec WDM solutions are indispensable in this process because they allow a cost efficient growing of networks, both regarding capex and opex," he notes. Operators worldwide are planning for deployment of the 40-Gbit/sec WDM
technology to expand capacity in their networks to cope with
fast-growing broadband bandwidth demands, say Ericsson representatives.
The vendor claims its Marconi MHL 3000 is the most reliable and
future-proof system in the market for transporting huge data traffic
between network routers in core networks. |
